Flower Pressing & Private Tour, 25th March
Flower Pressing & Private Tour, 25th March
We are thrilled to be hosting an Introduction to Flower Pressing Workshop at Charleston. You will learn how to select seasonal varieties suitable for pressing, and how to prepare and preserve them in your own flower press which is yours to keep and use for years to come. You will also be taught how to compose and mount pressed flower specimens, making your own artwork to take home.
The workshop includes an exclusive tour of the modernist home and studio at Charleston, providing a glimpse into its rich artistic history, along with all the materials you’ll need to bring your creations to life.
This workshop not only offers the skills to press flowers but also a deeper connection to the natural world and to uncover the creative legacy of Charleston.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including a delicious lunch made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
From the moment artists Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant moved to Charleston in 1916, they began to paint. They transformed the house into a living breathing work of art. Charleston became a gathering point for some of the 20th century’s most radical artists, writers and thinkers known collectively as the Bloomsbury group.
